Connecting Students and Countries

Students from across B.C. will have the opportunity to connect directly with countries around the world through a new Adopt a Country program, Premier Campbell announced on February 12. Elsie Roy Elementary is the first school to adopt a country as part of the program. B.C. schools will adopt one of the approximately 80 countries that will participate in the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Schools may choose to conduct research, or to connect with students, cultural organizations, and Olympic and Paralympic athletes from their adopted country through video messages, webcasts, letters or email.
