Attracting Visitors to Vancouver Island
The Province will invest $5 million to further develop a cruise ship facility in Nanaimo's inner harbour that is expected to draw up to 50 cruise ship visits annually. Premier Gordon Campbell and Nanaimo-Parksville MLA Ron Cantelon made the announcement on April 4. Once complete, the upgrade is expected to generate between 30 and 50 cruise ship visits and up to $9 million in direct passenger spending in the community and the Central Vancouver Island region.
